Our Story
Garage Works was born from a simple truth: people want more than what big box stores can offer.
More choices. More honesty. More quality.

It all started back in 1981, when Garage Works owner Rich Delalio began working for a garage door company on Eastern Long Island, New York. Over the years, he learned the ins and outs of the industry—what worked, what didn’t, and most importantly, what homeowners really wanted..
​
In 1996, he and his wife decided to leave New York and make a new life in the mountains of North Carolina. He picked up contractor work, and eventually found himself installing garage doors, activity sets, and windows for a local big box store. He worked with eight locations at once, but quickly noticed the same issue repeating itself: customers were unhappy. Products arrived damaged. Options were limited.
Not only did the system not serve them—but it didn’t sit right with him.

So he rented a small building—right where his current shop stands—and started ordering garage doors directly. It worked. Deliveries came in without damage, and he had more control over what he offered.
That’s when he and his wife realized: they could do this better. They could do it their way.

By 2018, he fully stepped away from the big box model and built Garage Works into what it is today: a family-run garage door and dream garage business that puts the customer first.

They don’t push one brand or one system. They are distributors for over 10 door manufacturers and 5 opener brands, and they also offer garage flooring, organizing systems, slatwall, and even custom closet storage.
